Regular viewers of Flog It! will no doubt have noticed that our very own Kate Bateman is now one of the regular on-screen experts for the popular BBC TV programme. Kate is currently filming the new series which is showing now (see dates below), and will appear in approximately nine separate programmes, having traveled from the Isle of Wight to Liverpool for valuation days. Repeats from last series are also regularly shown, as are the BBC Bargain Hunt programmes filmed at Batemans last year, that feature Kate and David Palmer on-screen alongside Host Tim Wonnacott, who was on hand to guide teams who had brought items along in the hopes of selling them for a profit. Some photos from these are included here.

Lights, Camera, Action! Flog It! returning to Batemans.
2009 will again see Batemans playing host to the Flog It! team who will be filming with us in our October sale, after a valuation day in Ely Cathedral.
Presenter Paul Martin, Kate and Auctioneer David Palmer will all be in front of the camera giving their expert opinions on the items chosen for auction.
NEW UK SALEROOM RECORD SET BY BATEMANS!
Occasionally even our valuers are surprised at the prices some lots reach.
Take this truncheon, for example. It was consigned as part of a country house clearance for our July sale. With the carved crown to the end, and the hand painted garter and Lewes decoration, we knew it was unusual, but even we were surprised when it quickly surpassed the modest £300-£400 estimate.
A battle of bidding ensued between an enthusiast in the room and a telephone bidder, and it finally went under the hammer at £1,900!
This, apparently, has set a new record for a truncheon for the UK, as reported by the Antiques Trade Gazette!
Charity Talks.
2009 has also seen Batemans giving regular talks to a wide array of charities including Age Concern, Cancer Research and Stamford’s Barn Hill Methodist Church. One such was an informal ‘Antiques Roadshow’ style event for Long Sutton Civic Society, as reported in the link below:
