A Russian silver cutlery service, by Joseph Marchak of Kiev, circa 1908, comprising a total of 100 pieces; a near-complete 12 person place setting and includes knives, forks, spoons and other pieces, with all pieces fully marked in Cyrillic, with the Marchak marks and with date stamps for both pre-1908 and 1908 - 1917. Provenance: Possibly a commission for the Grand Duke Constantine Constantinovich of Russia, Grandson of Emperor Nicholas I of Russia, a poet and playwright of some renown, best known by his pen name KR taken from his transliterated name Konstantin Romanov. The current vendor's own father was an architect in Constantinople in the early 20th century and purchased them from a Russian family. The items were then brought to England.
