William Smithson Broadhead (British 1888 - 1960). A hardback sketch book containing numerous pencil caricatures and studies, over forty one pages used, some with several drawings per page, several using the whole page with pencil annotations, includes self portrait, humorous, military caricatures of soldiers, beautiful ladies, one of a horse, one entitled 'Brooklyn trams at Coney Island', dated June 1914, 20 by 24cm (approx. fifty nine individual drawings, full list of illustrations available on request). Plus one loose leaf illustration of a beauty and a postcard to the artist from a family member dated 1906 ** Smithson Broadhead is well known for his iconic poster designs for LMS and LNER Railways, his horse paintings and as a book illustrator.
