Churchill, accompanied by Max Beaverbrook and lobby correspondent, Guy Eden, inspected the damage, and parliamentary archives confirm that glass fragments were made into shields and were given to Presidents, Prime Ministers and Houses of Parliament in other countries. Each shield measures approximately 9 by 8 inches. Guy Eden (1901-1971) spent most of his working life as a lobby correspondent and was one of a very few to receive these stained glass shields. It is understood that this is the first time that one of these shields has been offered for sale. These shields currently belong to Guy Eden's niece who was bequeathed them in 1971.
